A peculiar form of political amnesia bordering on idiocy —largely the handiwork of a compliant corporate media—permits the Reagan myth to sail on undisturbed by fact or due reckoning.  The continuing fallout from Reagan’s policies – the meltdown of the financial sector, widening income inequality, the emergence of lockdown America, the obscene inflation of CEO compensation, the end of locally owned media, market crashes, blackouts, drug-company scandals, rampant greed and materialism — is all around us.     I think what this does is point out that it isn’t a pro/anti-gov’t stance that will solve financial sector problems per se, so much as it is attacking very specific details in the way we conduct business.

    That, arguably, does have a very strong ideological component, but the important thing is that there are no “generalized” cure-alls that will fix this country without the information and will to tackle specific thieveries like this one.
