According to SANA (3/30/2013):
“Ex-CNN reporter Amber Lyon revealed that during her work for the channel she received orders to send false news and exclude some others which the US administration did not favor with the aim to create a public opinion in favor of launching an aggression on Iran and Syria. Lyon was quoted by the Slovak main news website as saying that the mainstream US media outlets intentionally work to create a propaganda against Iran to garner public opinion’s support for a military invasion against it“
A more complete report on the full context of Lyon’s complaint comes from The Obama Hustle, in their article “The Obama Administration pays for CNN content.” Ms. Lyon was apparently ordered to not air an interview by Nick Robertson with the brother of Ayman Al Zawahiri regarding the Arab Spring was in response to Zawahiri’s call for protests to release the blind sheik on 9/11. This contradicted the story being promoted by the Obama administration (including then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton).
However, the whole story originates from September 2012 when Glenn Greenwald wrote two articles for The Guardina/UK (Concise links here from September 4, 2012, “Why didn’t CNN’s international arm air its own documentary on Bahrain’s Arab Spring repression?.” (Here is the 13 minute YouTube segment that CNN refused to air). Greenwald then did a simultaneous sister article “CNN and the business of state-sponsored TV news.”
While all this is nothing new to those who already realize that the corporate media is “slanted” at best and on sale to the highest bidder at worst, this comes as no surprise. What we have here is direct evidence, and that is much more rare.
